What's prison abolition about then?
-dismantling the idea that there's goodies & there's baddies, & punishing the baddies will keep us safe, & that people get/earn what they deserve.
-Challenging the current systems that oppress & creating alternatives that look at the root causes of our problems.
-meeting peoples BASIC NEEDS- access to food shelter, quality education & meaningful work/activity.
-BUILDING stronger and more resilient communities that have the tools and resources to care for each other & deal with their own shit; and systems based on care, love and mutual aid.
-LEARNING approaches to understand & deal with trauma & violence & how to hold people to account for their actions.
-SHIFTING POWER into the hands of common people.
